(C. mixta) Grown for its beautiful, delicious seeds (Pepitas) that are very large and white with silver edges, hence the name. The fruit are round-to-pear-shaped, about 5-6lbs and are white with green stripes; attractive for decorations and great for seeds. A unique squash that is still popular in some parts of Mexico. This plant has Big, Beautiful Leaves and tends to take over, so plant on the edge of the garden and guide it to a path outside of it, if possible. It is grown primarily for it’s seeds, although the flesh is orange and mild (bland, according to some.) We remove the seeds (high in Omega 3, Zinc and said to be healthful for the prostate) for eating ourselves and give the rest of the squash to our chickens as feed!
